COVID Missionary Chronicles: CCM

Hola todos!!

How was everyone's week? I hope it was amazing and you could all see the hand of God in your lives! We've had a couple birthdays in my family, so I wanted to give a shout-out to my Aunt Marni and my cousin Ben!!! Happy Birthday guys!!

This week was really good! We started doing these things called TRCs. Basically, what they are is an opportunity for us missionaries to practice teaching the gospel entirely in Spanish. They put each companionship in a zoom room with somebody from Mexico and we are told to share a gospel message with them. In total I have done 5 of these TRCs and let me tell ya the first couple seconds after the people join the zoom room are some of the most terrifying moments ever haha. However, my companion and I are getting a lot better with these appointments. Yesturday, we were able to communicate very smoothly and the Spirit was really strong in the lesson! Tomorrow, we have our first real teaching appointment. We were told to prepare a full lesson (30 minutes) and be prepared to teach entirely in Spanish. After the TRC yesterday, I'm feeling a lot better about this upcoming teaching appointment.

This week I memorized La Primera Visión de José Smith (The First Vision) in Spanish! It was a pretty awesome experience actually. I was able to memorize pretty quickly! This was definitely the Gift of Tongues working in my life. The Gift of Tongues is so real and I notice more every day both in the members of my District and in myself. Did you know the Gift of Tongues works with music too?! This is also a very cool story...

So on Sunday Afternoon, I got a text from one of my CCM instructors, Hermana Hernandez. She asked me if I knew the song "Search, Ponder, and Pray" on either the guitar or violin. I told her I did not, but I'd be willing to write something up. She told me that she wanted me to play for one of our district activities on Monday afternoon and asked me to sing this song (verses in english and chorus in Spanish). So I said a quick prayer asking for Heavenly Fathers help with learning this song in English and Spanish. In a little over 24 hours, I was able to write up a simple arrangement on the guitar, learn the song in English, and then re-learn the chorus in Spanish. The funniest part is that she didn't actually have me play on Monday, but I will be playing tonight lol. I am confident that this was an example of the Gift of Tongues working in my life!

Alright everyone, that's all I've got for this week. I love y'all so much and I feel all of your prayers! I hope everyone has a great week and I can't wait to fill you in on this upcoming week! Love y'all!!
