Missionary Chronicles: "The Most Wonderful Sound I've Ever Heard Is The Sound of Water Running In The Church"

Hola a todos! How was everyone's week? I hope it was great and you were able to see the hand of the Lord everyday. It's only been 5 days since my last email, but we've had a lot happen so I'm excited to fill y'all in. First, my Grandma Blackburn and my aunt Anglea both had their birthday this past week! Happy Birthday to you both! I hope it was amazing!! On Friday we went back out and helped Brother Terrh again on his property. With the huge flood a couple weeks ago, the bridge we built was washed clear down the river. Our job was to somehow recover all of the railroad ties and get them back up to the job site. There were many obstacles in our way hahah and this was definitely one of the hardest jobs I've done. One of the big obstacles with catch y'all by surprise. When we pulled up to Brother Terry's he told us that there was a deer in the river. The deer had obviously fallen in and drowned. We needed to get the deer out of the river before we could sta...

Missionary Chronicles: Heaven Better Look Like This

Hola a todos! I hope y'all had a great week! It's been 9 days since my last email so I have a lot to fill y'all in on haha.  For starters, storm cleanup has slowed down at this point but last week was kind of crazy! Everyday we were out helping someone. It was amazing but also extremely exhausting. Last Tuesday we went over to help Brother Talerico with more of his cleanup. Because he had so much water in his house, he needed his floors pulled up. Brother Talerico had hard wood floor that was glued down to the cement below it. So basically we spent 6 hours on Tuesday and another 3 on Wednesday, on our hands and knees, with only hammers and chisels pulling up that hardwood. My body is only starting to forgive me for that one hahaha but it was awesome to be able to get some hard work done and to help Brother Talerico.  We also had a pretty amazing experience last Saturday. We were able to be in the temple as pur friend Angie did baptisms for the dead for the first time. Th...

Missionary Chronicles: In A Matter Of Hours It Was All Gone

Hey y'all! Just a fair warning, this is going to be a little different than my other emails because this week was a little different than most weeks. Before I get going, I just want to give a birthday shout out to my cousin Lexi! Happy Birthday!! Alright, so on Tuesday night we had the worst storm that I've experienced here in Georgia. I've been through hurricanes and this was a pretty similar experience. Even though we heard the storm, we had no idea how bad it had actually been. Early the next morning we got a text from the Portuguese Elders saying that there had been a huge sink hole that had opened up outside the gate of their apartment complex and they were trapped. This was our first hint of how bad this storm had actually been. We didn't hear too much more on Wednesday from anyone, but on Thursday while we were sitting in Zone Conference we got a text from our ward mission leader telling us to call him as soon as we could. When we got out of our meetings, we foun...

Missionary Chronicles: The Power In Setting Goals

¡Hola a todos! How was everyone's week? Anything crazy going one for y'all? This week was super good over here, and I'm excited to fill y'all in! The weather here in Georgia was crazy because of the recent storm. I'm not complaining though, because the temps have been in the high 60s to mid 70s. It kind of feels like fall haha.  We did a bunch of service this week as well. I meet our friend Mama T who the missionaries do service for all the time. She needed some help going through her garage and finding things worth selling. We also went and helped Brother Terry again. He asked us to come to the Redman's house and help him move and lay mulch around the property.  As far as lessons go, we taught Sam and Felix again. We kind of did a review on the Restoration because up until now we hadn't been able to get through the whole lesson lol. They're just so amazing and have so many questions so it's hard to get through an entire lesson. They are still strugg...
