Missionary Chronicles: Constant Battle

Image
Hola a todos! I hope y'all had a good week! We don't have any birthdays this week, but I do want to give a shout out to my cousin Kolter and his wife Nicole who just got married this past week!! Congratulations!! This week was alright. We just did a whole bunch of finding because we are really trying to rebuild our teaching pool before the end of the transfer. It's been a tough process, but it'll get there.  I'm going to let y'all in on a little missionary secret....getting dropped is the worst! On Monday we got a text from our friend Brenda (the lady we met through storm cleanup) saying she wasn't interested in the lessons anymore. It was super out of the blue and it really caught us by surprise. It's always super heartbreaking when someone you love turns away from the gospel. As missionaries, we're in a constant battle with the adversary trying to protect and shield our investigators from his temptations. It's hard when we see people give into ...

Hola a todos! How's everyone doing? I hope y'all had a great week and saw the hand of the Lord in your life! We had a pretty awesome week here in Paper Mill and I'm suoer excited to fill y'all in! Before I get into the email I just want to mention that Georgia all the sudden decided to be freezing haha. Overnight thr temperatures dropped from the 70s to the 40s lol. I was not prepared, but I wore a sweater for the first time since April so that was nice haha. The work was awesome this week! We dis a whole bunch of service for our memebers which was super good! We love our memebers so much so we always appreciate the opportunity to serve them!  We also had Zone Conference this past week! I always love Zone Conference and the opportunity it gives us missionaries to be taught by our mission leaders! The focus of this conference was faith and prayer. Sister Harris gave an amazing training on faith and how faith unlocks the power of God in our lives. Then, President trained ...

Missionary Chronicles: Always Come Prepared

Hola a todos! Cómo han estado? This has been a good week with some great experiences! I'm excited to fill y'all in!  Last Monday, we went on a hike with the Portuguese Elders. Recently we've been visiting a lot of the old Civil War sites in the area. This particular hike to us to the ruins of an old Paper Mill that got burned down during the Civil War. They were printing confederate currency, so Sherman burned it down as he made his was to Atlanta. It was a pretty cool place! We did a lot of service again this week. We helped a couple of our members get ready for a big yardage and we helped Brother Terry out on his property again. Those days with Brother Terry are going to be mission highlights for sure. This week, we were helping Brother Terry chop firewood to get it ready for the winter. A solid couple of hours splitting wood and only a couple bruises all around made for a successful day haha. I learned a powerful lesson this week 9f always being prepared. On Tuesday we h...

Missionary Chronicles: Experiences That Change You

Image
Hola a todos!   How was everyone's week? First off, I just want to say thank you for all of the birthday love I received! It was a great day spent with my Georgia family! On that note, two of my cousins also had birthday this week! Happy Birthday to Erin and Aidan!! So as you can tell from my email title, I had an experience this week that changed me. My whole mission has been full of these experiences at varying levels of intensity. I don't normally mention them in my weekly emails because often times they're super personal to me, but I felt like I wanted to share this experience and explain a powerful lesson the Lord has been teaching me.  So on Tuesday night, my friend Angie was hit by a car while walking home. Sister Christman and I didn't find out about it until Wednesday and when we did find out I was absolutely terrified because we had no idea of how bad the accident had been. We immediately tried getting ahold of Angie and when we finally did, she told us that s...
