Missionary Chronicles: Constant Battle

Hola a todos!

I hope y'all had a good week! We don't have any birthdays this week, but I do want to give a shout out to my cousin Kolter and his wife Nicole who just got married this past week!! Congratulations!!

This week was alright. We just did a whole bunch of finding because we are really trying to rebuild our teaching pool before the end of the transfer. It's been a tough process, but it'll get there.

I'm going to let y'all in on a little missionary secret....getting dropped is the worst! On Monday we got a text from our friend Brenda (the lady we met through storm cleanup) saying she wasn't interested in the lessons anymore. It was super out of the blue and it really caught us by surprise. It's always super heartbreaking when someone you love turns away from the gospel. As missionaries, we're in a constant battle with the adversary trying to protect and shield our investigators from his temptations. It's hard when we see people give into those temptations, but I'm holding onto the knowledge that it just wasn't Brenda's time yet.

We also had a really good lesson with Macy this week. We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ, The Word of Wisdom, and The Law of Chastity. She took to it all super well and has begun working to follow these commandments. I would ask y'all to continue to keep Macy in your prayers. We're going to have to push her baptismal date back because she hasn't been to church yet. She needs to come twice before she is baptized, so that is our biggest challenge in this situation. Please pray that she'll have a desire to attend church and continue moving down the path toward baptism.

Finding was a bit of a challenge this week. Everyday we would spend a couple hours walking around apartment complex just trying to talk to people. Normally people aren't super excited to see us walking around. However, we did find one miracle with finding this week. We were walking in this one particular apartment complex and we saw this family who was in the middle of a move. We walked over and offered to help them. They accepted and we were able to help them move the rest of their stuff into the new apartment. Even though they weren't interested in hearing our message, we were able to minister and to serve them.

For those of you who don't know, I hit halfway on my mission this week. This is kind of a surreal thing because I've officially got less time left then I've already served. Some days and weeks on the mission are super difficult, but in all honesty the good days and weeks drown those bad ones out. Even on the worst days, I'm thankful that this is what I've chosen to do right now. I'm thankful that I get to see that hand of the Lord in the lives of those around me each day! I'm ready to attack these next 9 months because there is still so much I want to do out here!

Alright y'all, that's all I've got for this week! I hope y'all have a great upcoming week! Look of opportunities to serve those around you! I love y'all!!
