COVID Missionary Chronicles: "The Rains Came Down And The Floods Came Up"

¡Hola a todos!

It's been another awesome week full of miracles and lessons learned! I hope y'all had great weeks as well and that you were able to see the Hand of the Lord in all things! We had another birthday!! Happy birthday to my cousin Jenni!! Love you girl!

Alright y'all this week was awesome! For starters, I had my first Zone Conference! For anyone who dosen't know what this is, it's a big meeting for all of the missionaries in the Zone (in my case, the Coal Mountain Zone). The mission presidency comes and we receive trainings and classes on how to improve our missionary work. It was way cool! President Harris is so awesome and I could honestly listen to him speak all day! The main topic of our conference was how to have a more focused scripture study. President gave us a new process to follow as we study our scriptures and it has really helped me a tonthis week. If you would like me to send you this process, shoot me an email and I'll send it over.

Everybody always talks about the "Zone Conference high" and we really felt that this week. After Zone Conference, Hermana Grover and I felt impressed to go through our Area Book and just start calling everyone. We normally just text people and wait for a response, but we felt impressed to call. This is when the miracles started flooding in!! We got a hold of one Lady named Liseph, and we were able to give her a short message over the phone! She's awesome and she said she'd like to know more so we're going to contact her this week and see if we can set up a formal lesson. We also got a hold of a guy named Luis. After some research, we found out that he was actually a grey dot in our Area Book. This means that he was taught at one point and then lost interest so missionaries stopped meeting with him. On the phone he told us that he was ready to learn more about Jesus Christ. We had a video call with him on Thursday morning and he is so awesome! We are also going to try and have another lesson with him this week. Luz wasn't able to meet with us this week and we still haven't heard from Ever, but I know that the Lord has a hand in all of this and that people are being placed in front of us who are prepared for his Gospel! We are also teaching another friend named Rosa. She's a very interesting lady and she has a huge personality. She's the friend of a member of the mission presidency so we always go to President Hilton's house to teach her. The last lesson we had with her was far from perfect. She got very frustrated and the spirit was not there. However.ast night's lesson was so much better. She brought her husband as well and they both participated in reading scriptures and asking questions. The lesson was super productive and we're going back on Friday to teach them again.

So, from the title of my email you may have guessed the weather we had this week. Guys, it was insane!!! I'm from Florida, and I've seen my fair share of storms but this was something else. No joke it rained for 4 days straight pretty much. And not just rain, there were area around us that got hail, tornadoes, and all of that fun stuff. We're all safe, but the weather was not on our side this week for street contracting. We were able to get out on Friday night to go visit a couple of members and we had a really sweet experience. We were walking to the car to leave the members apartment complex and this group of 5 little kids came running up to us. I've noticed that the little kids in the Hispanic neighborhoods really seem to like the missionaries Haha. The kids were asking all kinds of questions about our car and why we were there. We told them that we are missionaries who teach people about Jesus Christ. One of the little kids raised his hand and said, " I know Jesus, and I love him!". This was such a sweet example of having a childlike love of Jesus Christ. This little kid was so excited to hear the name of his savior and he wanted to let everyone know how much he loved him. These little kids were so awesome. They live such humble lives but they know their Savior which is so fantastic!

And our laughable moment of the week is a little different this time around, because I was the victim lol. We had gone to get lunch after our District council and it was pouring rain. We have a rile as missionaries that when you're backing up the car, someone always has to be the "backer" to make sure you don't back into anything. We were with the other sister from my apartment and I lost the game of rock-paper-scissors and had to back in the pouring rain. Hermana Grover, who was driving thought she'd be funny and locked thr car door and started driving away as I'm standing out in a monsoon. Long story short, I was soaked and took the opportunity to make sure a huge hug was waiting for her when we got back to the apartment Haha.

Alright everybody that's all I've got for this week. As we head into Easter next weekend, I invite all of you to take this time to study the life of our Savior. I've been reading out of Matthew this week and I have gained a greater appreciation for Christ and for the way he lead his life.  I also invite you to pray for missionary opportunities! I know you will see miracles as you strive to share the gospel! I love y'all! Thanks for your continued support!!
