Missionary Chronicles: "This Ain't Yankee Soil, This Is Rebel Soil!!"
¡Hola a todos!
I hope y'all had a fantastic week filled with miracles and tender mercies! We stayed super busy here, and I'm excited to fill y'all in! But first, we have a couple shout-outs! My cousin Emmersyn had a birthday and my Aunt Ashley and Uncle Sergio welcomed another beautiful baby boy into the world! Happy birthday to Emmersyn and a big congratulations to the Aguilar Family!
Alright y'all, this week was super busy which was exactly what I needed! We had two lessons with Lee this week and both of them went great! The first lesson with her we just went over again the Book of Mormon and the importance of studying it daily. And then yesterday, we taught Lee the first half of the Plan of Salvation. She is progressing super well and we are so excited to see what Heavenly Father has planned for her! If y'all are looking for someone to pray for this week, I would love if you could pray for Lee. We are hoping to try and put her on date to be baptized before the end of this month! If you could pray that she continues to progress and her desire to learn continues to grow, we would really appreciate it
We also had a service project this week which was super nice! We went and helped a lady named Rhonda plant some new flowers in her garden. Rhonda also invited her friend Carol-Mae over to help. Carol-Mae is a gardener/florist herself, so that made things super interesting. The title of my email is actually a quote from her as she explained to me why the Georgia red dirt is better than any potting soil you could buy at the store haha. We all had a good laugh from that one.
Hermana Crow and I were asked to do a YW activity for the Woodstock ward this week and that was super fun as well! We brought a bunch of copies of the Book of Mormon for the girls to paint and then we did a Q&A with them as they worked. It was super fun!
Elder Hall also had his birthday this week, so we went out to dinner with him and Elder Kortsen on Friday night. We went to a super nice BBQ place and ate some really good food! Hermana Crow made a comment as we walked out that made my night. She said, "My hair smells like I walked through a smoker...and I wouldn't want it any other way" haha.
We were able to get in and visit a lot of our members this week as well, which is always a good thing! We have made some serious progress with trying to contact each household in the Branch. I am loving this area and the people in the Cherokee Branch so much! This is our last week of this transfer and I am super proud of the work that Hermana Crow and I have been able to accomplish in this area these past 6 weeks! We will be getting transfer calls this coming Sunday, so I'll have a report for y'all next week about that.
The reason that my Pday got moved this week is because our Zone has been blessed with the opportunity to go to the Atlanta Temple this afternoon! We are all so incredibly excited to go back to the temple! This will be my first time back in the temple in 7 months and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in the Lord's House once again! I'll be sure to include pictures in my email next week!
For my spiritual thought this week I wanted to share a quote from a book that I am reading! Shout-out to my mama for just sending me three new books!! Right now, I'm reading a book called "Trusting Jesus" by Elder Jeffery R. Holland and it is sooo good! One quote that I loved from my reading is, "We should be as thrilled with the gospel as one who had found a great treasure, a veritable pearl of great price, right on our own doorstep.". This quote really got me thinking, is this the message that we give off as members of the church? I know I personally have some room to grow in this aspect. I'll be the first to admit, when we're walking trailer parks in 104 degree weather, I might not always look the most joyful haha. There is always room for improvement. This week my invitation is to reflect the excitement that the gospel bring each of us! I'll be working on this right along side y'all!
Alright, that's all I've got for this week! If there is anyone who needs prayers for anything, feel free to shoot me an email and we'll be sure to include you in our prayers! Keep moving forward! I'll catch y'all next week! Love y'all!!
Hermana Adams
