Missionary Chronicles: Laughed Until We Cried
Hola a todos!
I hope everyone had a great last week! This week was crazy and it honestly felt like an entire transfer stuffed into one week. Let me fill y'all in.
So this week I went on my first exchange as a TL. It was super cool to be on the leadership side of the exchange for the first time. I went to La Vista and was comps with Hermana Nava and Hermana Poulsen for the day. I went down there and got to see how their area is going. I got to meet some of the members and get a feel for the work going on! It was a great exchange and we got a lot of great work done while I was down there!
We tried super hard to teach this week but we weren't very successful with it. We have been having a super difficult time finding more people to teach. However, we did see some miracles with finding yesterday. After turning in some pretty lousy numbers for lessons this month, we found a little extra motivation. We decided that for the hour and a half before church, we were going to go and just start knocking a nearby apartment complex with a lot of Latinos (President gave us permission to start knocking doors in our area). We knocked a bunch of doors and talked to a bunch of people! We even got Bible bashed by the only American in that complex. We set up 5 return appointments for this next week and placed 1 copy of the Book of Mormon with a guy named Santiago. We're really praying that these return appointments hold and that we can start to teach some of these people! Y'all missions are hard, but we're committed to work harder and I know there are big blessings on the horizon for us. Some days all you can do is laugh until you cry, but every day is a blessing and there is no other work I'd rather be doing!
This week the GANM also had a pretty monumental experience! We had our first ever GANM Sisters Conference! All of the Sisters in the mission gathered over zoom and heard messages from Sister Harris and our STL's! It was a super powerful experience and even though it was only over zoom, the Spirit was so strong! We talked about self worth and about building Zion within the mission. It was a super spiritual experience and I was very uplifted by the thoughts and comments that were shared.
Yesterday I also gave my first big training as a TL. We had our Zone Ice-cream Social where the ZLs and TLs train about the focuses of the upcoming transfer. We trained on the importance of asking for referrals in every contact and the importance of having members present for lessons. It went really well and it feels really good to have that first big training under my belt. Now the planning begins for Zone Conference lol.
Alright y'all, that's all I've got for this week! Keep pushing everyday! I hope y'all have a great Thanksgiving! Remeber to tell those around you how thankful you are for them! I'll talk to y'all next next week! Love y'all!
