Missionary Chronicles: La Natividad Viva
Hola a todos!
How was everyone's week? I hope y'all had a fantastic week full of miracles and time with family! Before I get into the email I want to give a birthday shout out to my little Sister Ashtynn!! She turned 4 this past week which is absolutely crazy! Time really does fly!
This week was pretty good here in Georgia! We had a huge mission Christmas Gathering on Tuesday at transfers! It was super awesome to see all of my old comps and mission friends! I was asked to play a musical number to open up the devotional part and that went really well! I wrote up an arrangement of La Primera Navidad/Jesús en Pesebre/Cantan Santos Angeles. Everybody seemed to really enjoy it!
Also at transfers, we got to meet our new greenie! Her name is Hermana Fitzhugh and she's super cute! She got to go the Mexico MTC in person which was a really cool experience for her! She is super excited and super prepared to work so Sister Broederlow and I are excited to be here trainers!
This week was spent doing a lot of planning but we had a couple of good lessons as well! We taught our friend Patricia about the Plan of Salvation on Tuesday. She didn't seem all that interested though, so we're going to have see how long we keep teaching her. We also had another lesson with a lady named Mirta who was a referral from the Elders. We taught her the Restoration again but her kids were running around and super distracted so we might have to cover it again lol.
Now to explain my email title. Guys, Latinos are literally my favorite people in all of planet earth! They are very tradition oriented people and it's really cool. Anyways, there is one lady in our branch who's name is Hermana Rosa. Every year she sets up a live nativity in her living room and has whatever missionaries who are currently serving in the branch come and dress up so she can take pictures lol. So yeah, thise missionaries were us this year and let me tell ya, that was one of the strangest/funniest experiences of my entire mission. We pulled up and she literally had heat lamps all of the living room to set the lighting, she's got nativities set up ALL over the room, and she's got a costume rack pulled out full of clothes. She then proceeds to dress us up and tells us to remain silent so that the spirit can be there. Y'all can see the finished product in the photos down below...but yeah, that was an experience I'll never forget lol.
As we head into this next week with Christmas my heart is super full of gratitude and love! It's definitely hard to be away from family but at the same time there is nowhere else in the world where I'd rather be! Everyday I get to see the effect that Jesus Christ can have on the lives of people as they come to know him personally. The same Jesus Christ who's birth we celebrate this time of year! What a blessed time to be a representative and servent of him!
Alright y'all, I invite everyone to look for ways to share Christ's light this week! This week the best time of year to get out and serve so I invite y'all to make service a priority! I know that it will bring immense blessings into your lives! I love all y'all!
Feliz Navidad a todos!
Hermana Adams
