Mission Chronicles: "Que En El Mundo Es Un Casserole"
Hola a todos!
How has this week been for everyone? I hope you've been able to see the good in each day! We've had a pretty good week here in Georgia! I'm pretty sure summer just isn't going to happen this hear because it's still in the 60s majority of the day lol! It's BEAUTIFUL!!
We had exchanges this week and I stayed here in Magnolia with Sister Bulkley!! I know I say it all the time but she truly is one of my favorite people!! One of my favorite parts about being in leadership is how closely I get to work with younger missionaries! They have such a fire and such a strong desire to serve the Lord to their best ability! Every time I get to be with a younger missionary, I'm reminded of why I love this work so much!!
We had some really cool teaching opportunities this week as well. On Saturday we were out visiting some.members who are starting to go in-active. One of the memebers wasn't home so we knocked on their neighbors door and met this guy named Salvador. We ended up teaching him the whole Restoration right there on his front porch and it was awesome! He said that he met with missionaries back in México so he was kind of familiar already with what we shared with him lol.
Also, a HUGE miracle came through this week! We've started teaching this young couple who live all the way down in the Paper Mill Ward boundaries (about 45 minutes away). They expressed to us that they wanted to come to church but that they didn't have a car. We've been trying desperately to find someone down there who'd be able and willing to drive them to church. There are no active memebers down there and we were kind of at a loss not know how to help this family. On Friday while we were doing our Weekly Planning we decided to text this on member who hasn't been back to church since COVID and just ask if she could drive them! She responded very quickly and said she'd love to help us out! Yesterday Her and the couple were teaching came to church and stayed for the whole two hours!! MIRACLE!! There is power in in-active memebers as well!! Sometimes all they need is to feel needed and to have an assignment! Hopefully we can keep using this Sister to help our friends!
Also, super powerful spiritual experience occurred for me yesterday! Yimmy was ordained a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood! The spirit in the room was so powerful as he recieved the Priesthood! It's been amazing to be a part of this families spiritual journey! The blessings are being showered over them and it's humbling to witness. Yimmy wanted all of the Elders to participate in his ordination and it was a powerful experience for all involved! I can't wait to see what more the Lord has instore for the Montilla Family!
Ok, now to explain the email title. We had English Class this past week and we were teaching about different kinds of foods. The people in the particular class were pretty advanced so we missionaries were calling out foods in English and the people there were telling us what that food was in Spanish. On of the Elders yelled out "Casserole" and we were met with...*crickets* hahah. Then, Elder Carrasquillo (from Puerto Rico) said, "Que en el mundo es un Casserole" (What in the world is a Casserole).
A Casserole is most definitely not a normal food in Latin America and these people were so incredibly confused hahah including our friendly Puerto Rican Elder hahah
Well y'all, that's all I've got for this week! I hope this next week is full of all good things! Thank you for your continuedove and supoort! Love y'all!!
Hermana Adams
P.S. my companion is currently sick so if you could remember Hermana Hammond in your prayers that'd be great!
