Missionary Chronicles: Church Parking Lots Were Full
Hola a todos!
How was everyone's week? I hope everyone had a spirit filled and uplifting Easter Yesterday! What a blessing it was to be able to focus on the Savior all week and grow closer to him as we did!
This week was an amazing one here in Georgia! This was my second Easter here in Georgia but I was still super young in the mission last year when my first Easter rolled around. At that time I didn't really notice or understand these people enough to realize what a big role Easter plays here in the state of Georgia. People here in Georgia LOVE JESUS so much and it warms the heart of every missionary! Georgia is known for having "churches on every corner" and yesterday EVERY church parking lot was full!!! It really made me so happy! Even though majority of those people weren't attending our church, they were making an effort to learn and grow closer to Christ! So awesome!!
We had a pretty awesome week as well! Majority of our week was spent our tracting and just talking to everyone! It hard and tiring at some points but people's hearts were soften this week as we made an effort to share about the good news that the Savior Lives!!
We had the awesome opportunity to share the new Easter Videi from the church in just about every contact we had this week! It's one of the most powerful videos I've seen and on many occasion people were moved to tears as they watched.
We had a really awesome lesson this week with Amara where we taught her about the Book of Mormon. As we were following up about her thoughts on Joseph Smith she told us that she actually held her own fast last Monday and has been praying everyday to know of he's a Prophet! This family is so amazing and so prepared!!
We had exchanges with the Spanish STL's this week and I got to spend the afternoon working with Hermana Broederlow again! I love that girl so much and it was great to work with her and catch up a bit!
We also had a pretty funny contact experience this week. We were trying to find this one member named José who hasn't been contacted in a long time. We had an address in our area book for him so we drove to that address and knocked on the door. The address was in a little housing complex kind of out there. When we knocked on the door a little girl answered and we asked her if José lived there. She said no so we started to walk away and then a group of like 5 little kids came running after us. They were all asking what we were doing there so we told them we're looking for José haha. One of the little boys said "José vive atrás de mi" which means "José lives behind me". Confused we walked around that building and saw this little white house. We knocked on the door and asked for José...well he didn't live there either. The lady who lived there pointed down the hill into the woods and said "él vive allá" which means "he lives there". We walked down the hill and found this super tiny almost a little shack like house. We knocked on the door and sure enough we met a lady named Maria who is José's wife. Maria isn't a member but she loves the missionaries. She was doing some work in the yard and invited us to come talk to her. This family has the smallest house but they have legit 19 CHICKENS just chilling in their yard hahah. It was all good though cause y'all know that I vibe with that kind of stuff. We talked with Maria for a long time and I earned the respect of her kids when they challenged me to chase and catch one of their chickens. To their surprise, this missionary's still got it hahaha.
Well y'all, that was my week! I am so happy and feeling so blessed to be here in Georgia serving the Lord! There is no better place on earth! I hope y'all have an amazing upcoming week filled with miracles! I love y'all!!
