Missionary Chronicles: Fried Snake
Hola a todos!
How was everyone's week? I hope that it was great and that you were able to see the hand of the Lord each day! We've been busy here and I'm excited to fill y'all in! We've had some awesome experiences with finding this week! It's so cool to notice that hand of thr Lord working in this area that I love with all my heart!
One if my happiest moments happened this week on Tuesday! I'm not sure if y'all remember Angie Smith, she was the Recent Convert that I worked with in Paper Mill. She had my whole heart and I was super sad cause I wasn't sure I was going to see here again before I finish my mission. Well, I got to see her again this week cause our Bishops wife organized a lunch and brought Angie's wife to see me! Honestly made me so happy! She's so awesome and it warmed my heart to her about her progression in the church and her love for the temple! Recent Converts are the best!!
Our fighting factor this week...the temperature. Now, all of my people out west are used to temperatures of 112 degrees. However, when it gets that hot down here (which isn't normal) it's actually not ok lol. Well, this week that was the type of weather we were fighting. It was 112 degrees with 100% humidity making it feel like almost 120 degrees...so that was fun. It was so hot that the snakes here have started frying to the sidewalk which I've never seen before (pic below lol).
Despite the heat, we were out knocking doors and working all week and we had some really cool experiences! The one good thing about this heat is that everyone is choosing to stay inside! Great for the missionaries who choose to be out knocking doors lol!
There is an in-active family that We've been working with for a long time named the Rodriguez Family. We got in with them this week and set up a day this coming week to do a noche de hogar with them! We weren't expecting much of that, but we saw a huge miracle! Yesterday at church, the dad walked in with all 3 of the young daughters (none of which are baptized)! We're super excited because he said that they want us to work with their daughters to help them get baptized! We're super excited about that miracle!
On Saturday Hermana Nava and I were trainers again...kind of haha. Our friend Nathaly from the ward recently got her mission call to serve in Chiapas, Mexico and is so excited to be a missionary! On Saturday she spent the whole day with us! 10 whole hours and she loved it! We worked so hard and it was so fun to give Nathaly her first experience as a missionary before she heads down to Mexico! It was powerful to hear Nathaly bear her testimony and testify that she knows this gospel is true! Even though she's not a missionary yet, she's got an insanely powerful testimony and is going to bless so many lives in Mexico!
Our friend Jesús (the guy we have on-date) still wasn't able to come to church yesterday. Please keep him in your prayers!! We know that thr Lord had this I his hands, but Jesús could really use the extra prayers!!
Alright y'all, that's all I've got this week! I hope this next week is great for y'all and that you can find the little joys in every day! I love y'all so much! Talk to y'all next time!
